XREAL’s latest glasses want to do more than put a giant virtual screen in front of your eyes. The company has launched AURA, billed as the first wired XR glasses powered by Android XR, combining native apps, spatial games, Gemini assistance, and support for mirroring compatible gaming devices. Orders are open now, with shipping expected to begin in mid-November.
The system separates the glasses from the computing hardware. A wired puck houses the Snapdragon Reality Elite platform and battery, while the glasses carry XREAL’s X1S spatial coprocessor. XREAL lists the glasses at approximately 95 grams, although the separate 265-gram puck and connecting cable are also part of the setup. Your nose gets the lighter assignment.
The XREAL AURA uses transparent lenses, allowing you to see your surroundings directly rather than through camera passthrough. Sony Micro-OLED displays provide 1920 × 1200 resolution per eye at up to 120Hz, with a 70-degree field of view. Five levels of electrochromic dimming let users adjust how much of the outside world remains visible. Bose-tuned audio and six-degree-of-freedom spatial anchoring round out the presentation.
For gamers, there are two main ways to play. Android XR provides access to Google Play apps and games, while XREAL says its launch catalog includes more than 150 experiences designed for XR. Highlighted titles include the virtual tabletop skirmishes of Fallout: Factions, spatial puzzler Cubism, and Chess Club. Wired Mirroring also supports compatible USB-C computers and handheld gaming devices, placing their output alongside native Android XR apps.
Controls include hand tracking, voice, the puck’s trackpad, and connected peripherals. XREAL also announced a GameSir-developed controller with a dedicated Gemini button, plus a portable wireless keyboard.
The 12GB RAM/256GB storage model costs $1,099 during the launch promotion, down from $1,279. The 16GB/512GB version is $1,299, reduced from $1,499. Promotional pricing runs through December 2026 and applies to standalone AURA purchases rather than bundles.
The XREAL AURA aunch markets include the United States, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, with U.S. orders available through XREAL and Best Buy. At these prices, AURA’s software library and everyday usability will need to carry as much weight as its display specifications.
