Players looking to check out ReVamp during next week's playtest may have to be a little patient. Developer Digital Sun has announced they're pulling back the first playtest, which was going to be available on Steam, to instead start with something smaller scale over on their Discord server.
The news comes as more and more games are being looted, reverse-engineered, cloned and published before the original game comes out. Most of this is being done through AI plagiarism and poses a huge risk to games like ReVamp, which isn't fully out for several more months.
Digital Sun of course apologizes for the shift in strategy, and they hope to open up a more public test in January. The Discord playtest will still go ahead on October 29.
If you don't get in, they're still welcoming fans to join the conversation. They also hope for platforms to start strengthening protections for original work, so studios like theirs can share their games early without fear of theft.
ReVamp will launch in its entirely on March 25, 2027 and promises to be a "Tower Defensevania" where you rule as Dracula, shape your fortress, command an army, and fight to protect your throne from an army of mortal invaders.
