The messy tale of the Diamond Comics bankruptcy has taken another turn. Paizo and other affected publishers have reached an agreement with Diamond to retrieve millions of dollars of TTRPG products that were held in consignment by the distribution company.

Diamond Comics and Paizo's Agreement
To briefly summarize, Diamond Comics' bankruptcy has led to severe turbulence in the tabletop industry. The company filed for Chapter 11 in January of 2025, and in an attempt to settle its debt, argued that consigned inventory, products owned by other companies but stored and distributed through their warehouses, could safely be liquidated.
This led fifteen tabletop publishers, including Green Ronin and Paizo, to take legal action. The prevailing argument was that Diamond had no right to sell those products because Diamond wasn't the actual owner.
This drawn-out legal battle has caused great financial strain for these studios. Most notably, Paizo has struggled in this matter since they were locked into an exclusive contract with Diamond. This meant Paizo could not access $10 million worth of Pathfinder product, could not seek another distribution partner, and had to lay off several employees.
Now, according to a report by Wargamer, that particular chapter is coming to an end. Simply put, a settlement has been reached between the affected publishers and Diamond Comics' major creditors. That agreement includes that most of the remaining consigned inventory will be returned to their various owners. Furthermore, Paizo's contract with Diamond is now officially done, meaning they can safely seek out another company to sell their books.
Sadly, only some consigned inventory will be returned because some of it had already been sold. Between May and October 2025, Sparkle Pop, the holdings company set up by Ad Populum to purchase Diamond's assets, sold off $669,410 worth of product. As part of the agreement, most of that money will be going to Diamond Comics' creditors, and $50,000 will be split fifteen ways among the affected companies.
