Today publisher Dotemu and developer Homo Ludens have announced their tavern management simulator set in the Forgotten Realms of Dungeons & Dragons. Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern will invite players to open a Tavern in Faerun, fill it with attractive amenities, create tasty foods and drinks, and then send adventurers off to gather even more rare items in the surrounding areas.

Dungeons & Dragons: Long Rest Tavern will be launching on PC in 2027.

The gameplay loop shown off for Long Rest Tavern is simple. First you'll spend your day in a 'The Sims' like builder system where you can build out your Tavern and make sure that it's fit for customers. You'll be able to not just customize the size and shape of a room, but alter the wallpapers, floorboards, and stylistic choices between elements like lighting.

Once you've got your Tavern looking right you'll then be able to set yourself up for success with customers on the way. Brew a variety of drinks and set a menu to entice adventurers not just to walk into the door, but also stay a while. You might start with basic ales and wines, before you're able to send adventurers off on quests to be able to obtain for you a variety of rarer and more unique items that can be put into recipes to find all kinds of new concoctions to sell to your customers. Adventurers won't just be able to obtain new ingredients for you, they'll also bring by strange artifacts and mementos that they'll come across while exploring the world that you can use to further decorate your tavern.

As you are able to sell more items you'll be able to raise more money, higher more proficient staff, and improve your Tavern once again. This gameplay loop is simple but keeps you continuously iterating while investing in each aspect of the game.

You won't just have the customers and difficulties of sourcing ingredients to test you in Long Rest Tavern either as with popularity will also invite rival Taverns to interact with you.
