Hyperkin SupaBoy Crimson And SupaBoy Prime Launch October 28, Replacing Current

We previously covered the announcement of the new SupaBoy colorways, and now Hyperkin has confirmed an October 28, 2026 release date for its next pair of SupaBoy handhelds, the limited-edition SupaBoy Crimson and the SupaBoy Prime. Both are available to pre-order now in the US and Europe, and Hyperkin says the two translucent models will replace the current SupaBoy lineup rather than exist alongside it.

The key selling point remains the same as it has been for the SupaBoy family: these are handheld consoles for original Super Nintendo and Super Famicom cartridges, not another mini console stocked with a fixed menu of retro games. Players can slot in physical SNES and Super Famicom carts from PAL, NTSC, and Japanese regions, then take their 16-bit library away from the increasingly fragile CRT setup.

The SupaBoy Prime has a color scheme inspired by the Japanese and European Super Famicom design and will serve as the standard model. Hyperkin is positioning the Crimson as the collector-oriented option. The limited-run model draws from the cream-and-red styling of the original Japanese Famicom, although its translucent shell gives the look a more modern, slightly radioactive twist. It is also intended to begin an annual series of limited-edition SupaBoy color variants.

Underneath the revised styling, both systems share the same practical feature set. Each includes a 4.3-inch IPS display, a rechargeable lithium-ion battery rated for up to 10 hours, AV output for connecting to a compatible television, and two front-facing controller ports. Those ports are particularly useful for turning the device into a compact cartridge-playing console for two-player classics, assuming friends are still willing to debate who gets the better controller.
